On this renovation, the challenge was to maximize utility without sacrificing the 'wow' factor. The client required significant storage and a generous countertop, which I addressed by reconfiguring the architectural floor plan to open up the room’s flow.

Transformation

The goal was to maximize storage and counter space without losing that sense of 'cozy.' I designed the room to flow with the rest of the house, while ensuring a high-impact 'wow' factor the moment you step through the door

To provide a tailored experience, I developed comprehensive renderings and curated two distinct directions for the cabinetry:

  • A bespoke, high-end wood vanity featuring dovetail joinery.

  • A sophisticated, cost-effective alternative that maintains the Mediterranean aesthetic through strategic styling.

The ultimate compliment: the client loved the finished space even more than the initial renderings. Seeing the organic textures come to life made all the difference.

Transformation

By dissolving the visual clutter of the original layout and introducing raw, European textures, I transformed a disconnected bathroom into a grounded sanctuary. The result is a space that no longer feels like a small bathroom, but a cohesive architectural retreat that 'hugs' you the moment you step inside

Visual Expansion: The Mirror & Stone

"I designed a monolithic floor-to-ceiling mirror that perfectly scales to the El Dorado stone wall opposite it. By mirroring the stone's dimensions exactly, I created a visual 'infinity effect' that doubles the perceived depth of the room while grounding the floating toilet fixture against a backdrop of natural texture."

Material Continuity: The Tadelakt Application

To unify the space into a singular, 'hugged' environment, I hand-finished the walls, the shower interior, and the bespoke vanity in Tadelakt plaster. This traditional Moroccan technique allows for a waterproof, joint-free surface, wrapping the entire room in a consistent color and a soft, silk-like tactile texture

The Centerpiece: Live-Edge Cedar Craftsmanship

The vanity is a study in organic warmth, custom-crafted from two massive slabs of Cedar wood. I selected a light-grain cut to maintain a sense of airiness, allowing the natural scent and raw beauty of the timber to provide a warm, aromatic contrast to the stone and plaster.

Transformation

I opened up the floor plan to embrace the outdoors, unifying both into a single, sun-drenched experience. It’s breezy, light, and full of ease. Instead of wood, a seamless polyurethane floor adds a soft Mediterranean touch that grounds the room without breaking the visual flow

The client struggled with color decisions. Using my live-testing method, we refined the palette over  time to achieve a calm, cohesive feel.”
